International Seminar «Competence approach in designing educational programs» was held in Belarusian State University.
The topic of the seminar was discussion of the problems of incorporation and implementation of innovative principles and approaches in educational process of Belarusian Universities in the aims of graduates’ competences development.
The seminar was attended by more than 120 representatives from universities of Belarus, Finland, Lithuania, Poland, Russia and Spain. From Belarusian side were present members of Ministry of Education, professors of Belarusian State University, Polotsk State Univesity, Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank, Brest State University named after A.S. Pushkin, Belarusian State Economic University, Francisk Skorina Gomel State University, Yanka Kupala State Univresity of Grodno and National Institution for Higher Education.
Among foreigners were Andrea Viktorin, Head of EU delegation in Republic of Belarus, Kari Hyppönen, President of Baltic Sea Region University Network, Javier Vidal and Maria-Jose Vieira, experts from University of Leon and representatives from Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain), University of Turku (Finland), Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences (Lithuania), University of Bialystok (Poland).
The program of seminar was devoted to questions of modernization of system and methodology of higher education, development of educational process in accordance with the demand to skills, knowledge and competences of modern specialist.

Project “Fostering Competencies Development in Belarusian Higher Education / FOSTERC” started on 15.10.2016 in the framework of Erasmus+ Program. The project is lasting till 2019. FOSTERC corresponds to the priorities of higher education development in the Republic of Belarus specified in the state program “Education and youth policy” for 2016-2020.
FOSTERC project aim is to strengthen the use of innovative principles and approaches to teaching and learning in the Belarusian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) for the improvement of graduates’ learning outcomes based on competencies.
Consortium of 15 partners from Spain, Lithuania, Poland and Finland coordinate the project. The representatives of the Republic of Belarus comprise Belarusian State University, Brest State University named after A.S. Pushkin, Maxim Tank Belarusian State Pedagogical University, Belarusian State Economic University, Grodno State Agrarian University, Francisk Skorina Gomel State University, Polotsk State University, Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, National Institution for Higher Education.
