Directors of new EMU institutes have been elected and will take office on 1 January  2022:Director of the Institute of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences — Aret Vooremäe.Director of the Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences — Toomas Tiirats.Director of the Institute of Forestry and Engineering — Marek Metslaid.

Riga Technical University
Liene Briede, Acting Director of RTU Science and Innovation Centre has become the first representative of Latvia in the Board of the European Innovation Council. The Council is Europe’s largest innovation initiative to boost research, innovation and start-ups to bring Europe a technological breakthrough. The European Commission announced the establishment of the Council this spring. The EIC has a budget of more than 10 billion EUR for 2021-2027.

Gdansk University of Technology
For the first time GUT has published a report on the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals. This report presents only selected activities of GUT that significantly contribute to the achievement of SDGs.

University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn
UWM Rector Jerzy Przyborowski became member of the Consultative Council of the Polish Accreditation Committee (PAC) acting as consultative and advisory body to the chairman and the presidium of PAC in terms of defining strategic directions of operation, current activities, plans for international cooperation, etc.

Pskov State University
PskovSU Rector Natalia Ilina suggested students to develop projects for organisation of cultural spaces at the university. Granted projects could be implemented at the university. She also noted that the main part of the budget is directed to the repair of university buildings, dormitories, lecture rooms, laboratories, etc.

The North-West Institute of Management of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration
On 18 November, the All-Russian sectoral scientific and practical conference «Internationalisation of higher education as a factor of global academic leadership» was held at tNWIM RANEPA. Heads and employees of universities responsible for internationalisation attended the event. The programme included 32 reports on best practices for internationalisation in the context of academic leadership, promoting industry education, including recruitment, training, stay and employment tools for international students.
